100% Japanese Ramie-Linen Blend Yarn Made with Advanced Japanese Spinning Technology

The "Twill Antique-Style Ramie Linen 25s" uses a 100% Japanese ramie-linen blend yarn, crafted with Japan's highly acclaimed spinning technology.
This blended yarn combines the strong, robust characteristics of ramie with the supple nature of linen, resulting in a unique and rare quality that offers both strength and flexibility—a blend that can only be spun in Japan.

Returning to a Rustic Feel Through Use

The "Twill Antique-Style Ramie Linen 25s" undergoes Rudeback® Half processing, which involves using sulfur dyes that fade easily, similar to indigo dyes. This means that while the fabric is initially finished with vibrant colors, repeated washing brings out a rustic, worn-in character, reflecting the idea of returning to a natural, vintage aesthetic.

Domestic Weaving, Domestic Processing, and the Rich, Draping Quality Achieved Through Traditional Techniques

The "Twill Antique-Style Ramie Linen 25s" is woven in the Enshu region using 25-count ramie-linen blend yarn spun in Japan. This twill linen fabric is then traditionally dyed by master dyers in Hamamatsu, a city renowned for its textile industry. This process brings out the natural qualities of the linen to the fullest, resulting in a thick, richly draped, and soft texture.

A Vintage Linen that Becomes More Personalized with Use, Just Like Your Favorite Items

The "Twill Antique-Style Ramie Linen 25s" uses sulfur dyes that fade easily, similar to indigo dyes. This characteristic means that, like jeans, the fabric will gradually fade and become more comfortable with prolonged use. The thick, richly draped linen fabric will evolve over years of wear, developing the character of well-worn vintage linen.

Rudeback® Half Processing

Rudeback® Half processing is a technique to create a vintage feel, as if the fabric has been well-used and softened. Without applying excessive treatment to the greige fabric, it is repeatedly dyed vibrant colors using sulfur dyes through non-continuous, manual processes, and then washed to finish. Fabrics dyed with sulfur dyes soften with repeated washing, developing unique creases, scuffs, and fading, yet retaining a certain level of their original character.

Handling Fabrics Dyed with Sulfur Dyes

  • Fabrics dyed with sulfur dyes are more prone to fading and discoloration than general fabrics.
  • General washing is possible, but to minimize fading, wash in cold water using a neutral detergent, such as one for delicate clothes.
  • Lightfastness is very weak, so fading and discoloration can occur not only during washing but also from direct sunlight or fluorescent lights. Always store in a dark place.
If you are sensitive to fading, please avoid using fabrics dyed with sulfur dyes.

Direction of weave pattern

This fabric is a left-hand twill.

Processing Characteristics

The fabric may exhibit characteristics such as streaks, selvedge wrinkles, dye unevenness, slubs, neps, and weaving creases, as shown in the image above. These are not defects but rather part of the natural texture and should be understood as such.

For garments with a beautiful drape, or designs enhanced with product washing for a vintage look.

The "Twill Antique-Style Ramie Linen 25s," with its rich, full-bodied texture and beautiful drape, is recommended for making garments with a flowing silhouette, from outerwear like jackets and coats to bottoms such as dresses, skirts, and pants. Linen fabric dyed with sulfur dyes, which tend to fade, is not only great for enjoying its gradual aging over time but is also an ideal material for product washing to emphasize a vintage look. This linen fabric was designed to be sewn into a garment and then subjected to washing processes to create a subtly faded, worn-in feel. Please consider it for effective material use that aligns with your design and concept.
