Belgian Linen 40 Count Rudeback Half
This linen fabric is made from high-quality 40-count linen yarn, sourced from Belgian flax. The Rudeback Half processing, using sulfur dyes, allows for a sophisticated, well-worn look that deepens in character with each use. It possesses a moist, elegant sheen, exuding a sense of high quality.

Returning to a rugged texture through wear
Rudeback® in "Belgian Linen 40 Count Rudeback Half" refers to a process using sulfur dyes, which share similar properties to indigo dyes. This means that a fabric initially dyed with vibrant colors will gradually return to a more rugged texture through repeated washing.

A unique texture born from high-quality materials and traditional processing techniques
"Belgian Linen 40 Count Rudeback Half" uses high-quality 40-count linen yarn from Belgian flax. The fabric is meticulously plain-woven in the Enshu region, then undergoes traditional dyeing and processing by dyers in Hamamatsu, a city known for its textiles. This process maximizes the inherent qualities of the premium material, allowing its character to deepen with time.

Smooth and comfortable, moist and lustrous texture
This linen fabric, made from high-quality 40-count linen yarn sourced from Belgian flax, has a firm, medium-weight feel with a crispness that is comfortable to the touch. It also boasts a moist, elegant luster, giving it a luxurious feel.

A texture that becomes more familiar with use
Right from the start, the fabric has a slightly uneven, natural finish that, combined with the characteristic luster of high-quality linen, creates a vintage appeal. Furthermore, its character deepens with continued use.

Elegant and delicate aging (temporal change) in
a total of 15 colors
“Belgian Linen 40 Count Rudeback Half” uses sulfur dyes.
Fabrics dyed with sulfur dyes gradually fade with use, and develop scuffs, rubs, and other marks, which give them a unique character, much like indigo-dyed jeans. This fading is never harsh; instead, it creates a charming fabric that changes its expression with every wear, allowing you to enjoy a well-worn look.

Meticulously crafted one by one with the skills of artisans
Fabric from Tenbata is created with the skilled craftsmanship and intuition of local Hamamatsu artisans who are knowledgeable about natural fibers, applying techniques for material texture, surface finishing, and dyeing.

Rudeback® Half Processing
Rudeback® Half processing is a unique dyeing technique developed by Tenbata to create a vintage texture that feels well-worn and familiar.
The fabric (greige goods) undergoes a non-continuous manual process without excessive stress, repeatedly dyed with sulfur dyes to achieve vibrant colors, and then washed to finish.
Fabrics treated with sulfur dyes become softer with repeated washing, developing rubs, scuffs, wrinkles, and fading, which causes them to conform to the body over time.
Handling fabrics dyed with sulfur dyes
- While general washing is possible, to minimize color fading, please use a neutral detergent for delicate clothes and wash with cold water.
- As the intention is for the color to fade, please wash separately.

Characteristics of Processing
The fabric may exhibit streaks, selvage wrinkles, uneven dyeing, slubs, neps, and weaving creases, as shown in the image above. These are not defects but rather natural characteristics of the texture, so please understand.

The feeling of becoming more familiar with each use
"Belgian Linen 40 Count Rudeback Half" is a material that develops a unique character and becomes more familiar with each use. For a wide range of items such as jackets, dresses, and pants, you will experience the feeling of rubs, scuffs, and fading evolving over time, naturally conforming to you.
We hope you will leverage the texture of this material in your creative projects.
