A firm, medium-weight cotton linen fabric woven in Japan.
"Cotton Linen Viyella Ruedeback Half" is a cotton-linen blend fabric with a firm, medium-weight texture and excellent drape. It is meticulously woven in Enshu with 100% cotton warp threads and cotton-linen blended weft threads to create a high-density twill weave.

Rich, natural texture with a linen feel
"Cotton Linen Viyella Ruedeback Half" brings out the best qualities of both cotton and linen by weaving linen fibers into cotton. The natural texture of the fabric is expressed by intentionally retaining the slubs and neps (yarn knots) found in natural fibers.

Supple drape with body
"Cotton Linen Viyella Ruedeback Half" is characterized by the soft tenderness of cotton and the smooth, slightly crisp feel typical of linen. With its subtle sheen and just the right amount of body, it drapes beautifully, making it an elegant fabric.

9 military-inspired colors
"Cotton Linen Viyella Ruedeback Half" offers a sophisticated casual style with its military-inspired hues and excellent drape unique to twill weave.
Furthermore, with each wear and wash, the fabric gradually fades, allowing you to enjoy a refined, lived-in texture.

Each piece is carefully crafted by skilled artisans.
Our fabrics at Kiji no Mori are created with the skilled techniques and intuition of artisans who are well-versed in natural fibers, in the local Hamamatsu region, focusing on creating the right texture, surface appearance, and dyeing techniques.

Rudeback® Half Processing
Rudeback® Half processing is a unique dyeing process developed by Kiji no Mori to achieve a vintage look, as if the fabric has been well-used and softened. Without applying unnecessary stress to the greige fabric, it is repeatedly dyed with sulfur dyes in a non-continuous, manual process to achieve vibrant colors, then washed off and finished. Fabrics dyed with sulfur dyes become softer with repeated washing, developing marks, abrasions, wrinkles, and fading, which allows them to gradually conform to the skin.

Handling fabrics dyed with sulfur dyes
- While general washing is possible, to minimize color fading, wash in cold water using a neutral detergent suitable for delicate clothes.
- As color fading is intended, always wash separately.

Characteristics of the processing
There may be streaks, selvage wrinkles, dyeing irregularities, slubs, neps, and creases from weaving, as shown in the image above. These are not defects; please understand them as part of the natural texture.

As the fabric is dyed from ecru, cotton and linen particles (blackish-brown mixed specks) appear as horizontal streaks, as shown in the image above. These are intentionally left on the fabric surface to achieve a natural texture, so please understand this as a characteristic of the processing.

Elegant casual, versatile for all seasons
The medium-weight "Cotton Linen Viyella Ruedeback Half" fabric is not too thick or too thin, offering a lightweight and supple drape that creates an elegant atmosphere. Less seasonal than pure linen, its soft and smooth feel makes it suitable for a wide range of items, including outerwear, tops, dresses, skirts, and pants. We encourage you to use it for your everyday creations.
